Argentine writer David Viñas’ novel Los dueños de la tierra has gone comic, some fifty years after its release.  Illustrator Dante Ginevra, alongside Juan Carlos Kreime re-imagine the fictional account of Argentina´s colonization of the then sparsely populated Patagonia.  The leftist president Hipólito Irigoyen sends the novel’s protagonist, Vincente Vera on a mission to create peace in the frigid and then volatile Patagonia region.  Vera however soon realizes that peace is impossible.  Sandwiched between manipulative wealthy interest and brutal violence – against boriginal groups – Vera is stuck quite literally at the end of the world.
The black and white comic is exquisitely rendered by Dante Ginevra, frequent contributor to the esteemed Argentine comic review, Fierro. Juan Carlos Kreimer – the editor of the For Beginners comic series in Spanish – adapted the novel into comic for Ediciones de la Flor.
