Mac Raboy’s Other Superhero

Mac Raboy drew a remarkably fine line and is best remembered for his chiseled work on Captain Marvel Jr., the prettiest and most prettily drawn superhero of all time. But Raboy also drew the Flash Gordon Sunday strips from 1946 until his death in 1967 (per Wiki, of course). And just before signing on to do Flash Gordon, he drew the short-lived Green Lama series for Spark Publications.

The Green Lama’s contribution toward the victory of the Allied forces in World War II is little recognized by the heteronormative text books that dominate our school system. We are happy to rectify that omission here.

Daily proverb. Ask your mirror what you like, it won’t answer until your lips stop moving!
